EDB: Belarusian economy grew by 1-1,2% in the fourth quarter

The Eurasian Development Bank estimated the growth of Belarusian GDP in the fourth quarter. As noted in the weekly review of the countries’ economies operations of the bank, in October-December 2021, the gross domestic product of Belarus increased by 1-1,2% compared to the same period in 2020.

The bank believes that in the last quarter of last year, the energy sector contributed 0,5 percentage points to GDP growth, IT and other services – 0,75 percentage points, the manufacturing industry — 0,1 percentage points. The contribution of construction was negative and amounted to minus 0,7 percentage points.

The EDB estimated the growth of Belarusian GDP in the third quarter at 0,5-1%. At the end of 2021, the country’s GDP grew by 2,3% with the planned increase of 1,8%. The government is planning that the economy will grow by 2,9% this year.
