In 2021, Russia provided multifaceted support to Belarus to minimize sanctions. This is stated in the annual report of the Belarusian Foreign Ministry.

«To minimize the consequences of external pressure and Western sanctions policy against the Republic of Belarus last year, the Russian side provided multifaceted support to our country in various areas,» the ministry noted.

According to it, the Russian Federation accounted for 49% of Belarus’ commodity turnover in value terms, including 41.1% of exports and 56.6% of imports. Belarus is working to remove barriers and restrictions in mutual trade, ensure equal economic conditions, address pressing issues of cooperation in the energy sector, and build up industrial cooperation.

The Foreign Ministry report stresses that trade and economic relations with most European countries showed stability and impressive economic growth.
