Hajun Project published a situation report on military activity on the territory of Belarus as of 22:00 April 1.

Movement of convoys of the Russian Armed Forces through the territory of Belarus (1, 2, 3, 4, 5, 6, etc.) continues. The main routes of movement are in the direction of settlements located in Gomel region (Gomel, Brahin, Naroulya, Kalinkavichy, and Yelsk). Thus, the geography of movements is localized in the southeastern regions of Belarus, which is associated with the withdrawal of Russian Armed Forces troops from the territory of Ukraine.

Columns of fighting vehicles continue to move as well. A large column (infantry fighting vehicles, airborne infantry fighting vehicles, T-72 tanks, etc.) was moving towards Yelsk. Also, there was a cluster of military equipment (Grad MLRS, KamAZ trucks, armored personnel carriers, MT-LB, T-72 tanks, etc.) at the railway station in Yelsk. Some of this equipment remained at the station, while another part headed in the direction of the village of Bouharka (Yelsk District). It should be noted that Russian Armed Forces units were stationed in Bouharka during the «Union Resolve – 2022» exercise. Several units of Pantsir-S1 surface-to-air missile systems were spotted in Mazyr. A large column of military equipment (including 5 Iskander missile systems) was moving from Kalinkavichy towards Babruisk. Later, the column was spotted in Asipovichy. The column was also seen moving along the Asipovichy-Babruisk route.

Flight activity was recorded at military airfields in Baranavichy (9 departures) and Machulischy (2 departures/5 landings). It should be noted that a Tu-154 passenger aircraft (registration number RA-85843) arrived to the airfield in Machulishchy from Russia. The aircraft could take the flight crew of the Russian Air Force. Also, several IL-76 transport aircraft arrived in Machulishchy today. There is information that the pilots had the task to unload cargo quickly and fly away. The IL-76 of Russian Aerospace Force, which arrived in Baranavichy, also needed unloading. We have no information about the cargoes carried by the aircraft.

12 helicopters of the Russian Aerospace Force flew from Machulishchy airfield to Veret airfield (Pskov region, Russia). On March 30, 24 helicopters departed from Machulishchy to Seshcha airfield (Bryansk region, Russia). Thus, Russian Air Force helicopters keep leaving Belarus.

It was reported that several launchers of air defense systems, which had been stationed there since the beginning of the  «Union Resolve – 2022» military exercise, had left the airfield in Lida.

Movement of Russian Armed Forces equipment by rail continues. For example, a train carrying military equipment (Tornado-U Ural trucks, 152-mm Msta-B howitzer, etc.) was spotted in Vasilevichy (Rechitsa district). Then the train could go to Kalinkavichy or Khoiniki. A train with Russian Armed Forces equipment (at least 11 infantry fighting vehicles, airborne infantry fighting vehicles) was seen at the Gomel-Nechetny station in Gomel.

Strikes on the territory of Ukraine with tactical missile systems continue. In particular, 11 missile launches were recorded from the territory of the Khoiniki district, 34 from the Mazyr district, and 4 from the Kalinkavichy district. The intensity of the missile strikes may be associated with covering the withdrawal of Russian Armed Forces units (here, here and here). The intensity of missile strikes from the Mazyr district is especially notable.

There were a lot of reports on some actions of the Russian Armed Forces soldiers:

  • When leaving the territory of the Chernobyl nuclear power plant, they stole kitchenware and household appliances from a hotel in the exclusion zone;
  • They sent goods looted in Ukraine from Mazyr to Russia;
  • They were burning fires in the center of Rechitsa.

Cluster of military equipment of the Russian Armed Forces was recorded near the village of Drazdy (Mazyr district). Earlier, we reported that a radar station was deployed there.

Movements of Belarusian Armed Forces units were also observed. For example, a column of 30 empty trailers was moving from Babruisk to Kalinkavichy. A column of military equipment was seen in Grodno, moving towards the border with Poland. And a large column of air defense equipment was moving from Minsk to Slutsk. According to available information, these were units of the 15th antiaircraft missile brigade (stationed in the town of Fanipal). The movements may be related to the strike on the oil depot in Belgorod (Russia) and the authorities’ fear of similar strikes on the territory of Belarus.
