The publication Meduza, citing its sources, reports that the Kremlin didn’t abandon the idea to hold referendums on joining ORDLO [temporarily occupied territories of Ukraine – ed.], temporarily occupied territories of Ukraine (after February 24, 2022) and South Ossetia (the territory of Georgia, temporarily occupied by Russia) to Russia. The alleged date is September 11 – the unified voting day.

According to Meduza’s interlocutors, along with referendums in the self-proclaimed republics of Donbas, a plebiscite on the «merger» with Russia may also take place in Belarus.

«But this may happen only if they manage to press Lukashenka, who is avoiding this scenario in any possible way,» one of the interlocutors stressed.
