According to Banki24.by, Belarusian consumers abandoned domestic products, setting a long-term anti-record in terms of its consumption. According to the results of 9 months of 2021, the share of Belarusian products in the trade turnover decreased to 59.5%. This is the worst result since 2013.

In 2013-2021, the share of Belarusian food products decreased from 83.3% to 76.8%. In parallel, in the non-food items, the share of domestic products fell from 56.3% to 40.9%.

In January-September 2013, the share of Belarusian products still reached 71.7%. Then in 2014 it fell to 70.7%, in 2015 — to 69.8%, in 2016 — to 66.2%, in 2017 — to 65%, in 2018 — to 63.4%, in 2019 — to 61.6% and in 2020 — to 60.7%.

For 8 years in a row, the share of domestic goods in sales has been constantly decreasing, despite the talk of officials about import substitution. In 8 years, the share of Belarusian goods in popular consumption decreased by 12.2%.

The share of consumption of non-food items is decreasing even faster — according to them, Belarusian consumers have already lost the main position in the market to Russian and Chinese products. Among non-food items, a low share of Belarusian goods was recorded in sales of cars (13.9%), televisions (14.5%), washing machines (15%), perfumery and cosmetic products and toiletries (17.8%).

In terms of food commodity consumption, Belarusian products still hold the championship, but there are positions where imports dominate. According to the results of 9 months of 2021, these are fresh fruits and nuts (the share of imports is 92.7%), fish (87.2%), vegetable oil (84.8%).

It is worth noting that protest-minded Belarusians deliberately avoid buying domestically produced goods in order not to support companies associated with the current regime (such as Santa Bremor, Savushkin Product and the Main Economic Directorate under the President), as well as goods of Belarusian state-owned enterprises, goods advertised on Belarusian television, cigarettes and alcohol, for excise taxes on which the Belarusian regime receives a lot of money. To do this, many Belarusians use the Krama application, which helps to determine the «connection» of the goods with pro-governmental structures and businesses by the barcode.
