All three of Belavia’s newest Embraer E195-E2 aircraft with registration numbers EW-555PO, EW-560PO and EW-563PO flew to Nur-Sultan, the capital of Kazakhstan. One of them (EW-563PO) is in the Belavia anniversary lire. On October 25, the editors of Motolko.help received information from various sources that this week, the airline will send its Embraer aircraft to Kazakhstan, and at that time was not published anywhere.

According to our information, due to sanctions, the Brazilian manufacturer did not provide the company with an updated database, without which aircraft cannot fly. For this reason, Belavia was forced to get rid of them.

Embraer 195-E2 is the newest and most capacious aircraft of the Brazilian manufacturer. Belavia received these aircraft new in late 2020 — early 2021 in a layout of 125 seats. They came through the leasing company AerCap, for which the downtime of aircraft would be unprofitable. And Belavia could not exploit them without gaining access to the new database.

Most likely, the aircraft were transferred (on the terms of lease, or full sale) to the Kazakhstani airline AirAstana, since this is the only airline in Kazakhstan allowed to operate Embraer E2.

Is losing 3 aircraft the only problem of Belavia?

No, the exclusion of the Embraer E2 from the company’s fleet is only a part of their problems. It is reported that in January the insurance for aircraft, without which no plane can fly, will expire. Due to sanctions, European insurance companies will not undertake to insure their aircraft, as a result, most of the company’s fleet is currently under a real threat of downtime.
