The KGB detained Kanstantsin Zalatykh, the director of the newspaper Belarusians and the Market.
According to Euroradio, Yuliya Kokhno, the newspaper’s accountant, was also detained, and there is no contact with the editor-in-chief Andrei Aleksandrovich.
According to Kanstantsin’s wife, he is charged under Article 130 of the Criminal Code of Belarus («Incitement to ethnic hatred»). They confiscated his laptop and means of communication.
Belarusians and the Market is one of the last independent publications in Belarus. It is a solid newspaper, mainly devoted to the economy. In addition to the paper version, the publication has a telegram channel, a channel on Youtube, and even a channel in TikTok.
