The website Zerkalo.io, all social networks and the logo «in the form of a formalized image of a white dove holding a branch on a red background» were recognized as «extremist.»
One of the channels connected with GUBOPiK said that the outlet received this status for «public calls for sanctions, discrediting and insulting officials, organization of activities to prepare for assaults on the sovereignty and public security of the Republic of Belarus.»
Enforcers note that people who «participate or transfer any information to representatives of Zerkalo/Zerkalo.io are considered as members of an extremist formation and will be prosecuted under Art. 361-1 and 361-4 of the Criminal Code of Belarus (up to 7 years of imprisonment).» Also, the establishment, leadership or participation in an «extremist formation» is subject to criminal liability of up to 6 years of imprisonment.
