The court of Babruisk and Babruisk district sentenced local resident Volha Kukushkina to one and a half years in prison for insulting Lukashenka and other government officials – a picture with Belarusian officials in nazi uniforms was found in her phone, human rights activists report.

It is known that in November 2021, a woman was prosecuted for reposting information from a telegram channel recognized as extremist. She was searched and her phone was seized, in which they found a picture. It is reported that it depicted Aliaksandr Lukashenka, Natalia Kachanova and Yury Karayev. Volha Kukushkina posted this picture in a closed chat. At the time of the inspection of the smartphone, the chat was no longer active, and Volha herself left it, but the image remained in the smartphone.

The woman was sentenced to 10 days of arrest under the administrative article, but a criminal case was initiated against her after she was released. Volha was taken into custody right in the courtroom.
