MAYDAY human rights volunteer group reports that last week an attempt to escape from the women’s penal colony №4 in the Gomel region was made by one of the convicts.
There are no details at the moment, it is only known that a convict from the squad №2 tried to escape.
The Belsat TV channel, citing its sources, reported that after the attempt to escape, conditions of detention deteriorated in the colony. Convicts «prone to extremism» and «prone to escape» (according to the publication, people are marked with yellow and red tags) are now allowed to move around the colony only in handcuffs.
It is known that journalists Katsiaryna Andreyeva and Darya Chultsova, who were sentenced to 2 years in prison for their professional activities, are in the penal colony №4.
