India plans to buy Belarusian potash fertilizers despite the EU and US sanctions. For settlements with the Belarusian side, India offers the Belarusian Potash Company to open an account in rupees in the Indian state bank, Reuters reports citing two Indian officials familiar with the situation.

According to one of the sources, India plans to buy 1 million tons of Belarusian potash in 2022. The deal could be sealed in February.

The United States imposed sanctions against Belaruskali and BPC. Sanctions against Belaruskali have been in force since December last year, and come into force against BPC in April.

Since February 1, the Lithuanian Railways has stopped the transit of Belarusian potash.
