Lieutenant General Serhiy Nayev, the commander of the Joint Forces of the Ukrainian Armed Forces, stated that the purpose of flights of A-50 AEW&C aircraft and MiG-31K fighters of the Russian Aerospace Forces in the airspace of Belarus is to clarify the targets for missile strikes on the territory of Ukraine.

«Therefore, we are taking all measures to reduce this level of threat,» he said.

In addition, the commander noted that the 2nd Motorized Rifle Division of the 1st Tank Army and the aviation group, which includes the latest models of aviation of the Russian Aerospace Forces, are now concentrated on the territory of Belarus.

«In addition, there are Iskander missile launchers and missile systems, as well as airborne missiles, which are intended for use against targets on the territory of Ukraine,» Nayev said.

According to him, this is currently enough to create a threat against Ukraine and conduct tactical actions with limited targets.

«We keep a close eye on what is being transported from Russia to Belarus and, accordingly, we analyze it on a daily basis. The level of the military threat is gradually increasing, but we also take adequate measures. In addition, the General Staff of the Armed Forces of Ukraine provides for a significant build-up of groups in case of a significant increase of forces and means from the opposite side,» Serhiy Nayev said.
