Dzmitry Hulin: Art. 356 of the Criminal Code of Belarus "High treason", he faces up to 20 years in prison

Human rights activists of the Brest Viasna reported that a regional propaganda TV channel showed arrested retired officer Dzmitry Hulin.

In the story, propaganda claimed that the man served in the Belarusian Armed Forces until 2012, and after 2020 he allegedly «became an agent of the Ukrainian special services,» for which he was arrested.

It was said that the man allegedly informed the Ukrainian military about the location of Russian units on the territory of Belarus and where they launch missiles from. For this he was prosecuted under Article 356 of the Criminal Code «High treason,» and faces up to 20 years in prison.

The Belarusian publication Nasha Niva found out that 24-year-old Maksim Aucharenka from Maryina Horka was prosecuted under Art. 341-1 of the Criminal Code for the «demonstration of nazi symbols.»

Lukashenka’s enforcers published a video, showing Maksim’s old tweets, where the young man’s profile contained Belarusian and Ukrainian symbols.

Mykhailo Stolyarchuk and Dmytro Hudik. They were sentenced to 5 and 6 years in prison under Art. 358-1 of the Criminal Code "Spy activities"

On November 24, the so-called Brest Regional Court sentenced citizens of Ukraine Mykhailo Stolyarchuk and Dmytro Hudik to 6 and 5 years in prison, but this has become known only now.

They were accused of allegedly collecting information about military equipment and facilities in Belarus since 2018 at the request of the Ukrainian Security Service.

It is reported that they were arrested at the Makrany border crossing while traveling by bus on the Lviv-Brest route, the exact date of their detention is unknown. Dmytro and Mykhailo were convicted under Art. 358-1 of the Criminal Code of Belarus «Spy activity.»

On August 3, 2022, a street concert of singer Meriyem Herasimenka was held on the terrace of the Minsk bar Banki-Butylki. At the concert, the girl sang the song «Obyimy» by Okean Elzy in support of Ukraine.

After that, Lukashenka’s enforcers arrested the girl and detained her for 15 days twice. After the concert, the bar owner Andrei Zhuk was also arrested. Later it became known that he was arrested for 30 days. Since then he has not been released. In addition, his wife Mariya Zhuk was also arrested.

According to preliminary information, Andrei and Mariya, like Meriyem, are prosecuted under Part 1 of Article 342 of the Criminal Code (active participation in actions grossly violating public order). They have been kept in the pre-trial detention center No. 1 for over three months. A date for the trial has not yet been set.

Viasna Human Rights Center reported that a few days ago, 20-year-old Minsk resident Andrei Raptunovich, who had been sentenced to 4 years in prison, was transferred to the Vitsebsk pre-trial detention center No.2.

Andrei was convicted of intending to go to fight to Ukraine and join the Belarusian volunteers.

A military analyst was sentenced to 5 years in prison for an interview about the Lukashenka regime's involvement in the war against Ukraine

Military expert Yahor Lebiadok was sentenced to 5 years in prison

The so-called Minsk Regional Court found military analyst Yahor Lebiadok guilty of assistance to «extremist» activities (part 1 and part 2 of Article 361-4 of the Criminal Code) and sentenced him to five years’ imprisonment in a penal colony.

Lebiadok was arrested in the morning of July 12 at his house in Smaliavichy. Lukashenka’s General Prosecutor’s Office stated that in April and May 2022, Lebiadok, «in order to support the activities of a public destructive channel», gave an interview «on the subject of a special military operation on the territory of Ukraine conducted by the Armed Forces of the Russian Federation and the role of the Republic of Belarus in it».

This is the first known case of a criminal case for an interview with a channel undesirable to the regime.

Lukashenka’s enforcers arrested a 68-year-old pensioner from Brest for writing inscriptions «No to War» and «Long live Belarus» on advertising banners at a bus stop.

It is known that the woman was prosecuted under Article 341 of the Criminal Code for desecration of buildings and damage to property.

The woman’s name and current location are unknown.
