The Office Life, citing Ukrainian media, reports that Metinvest Distribution, which is part of Ukrainian oligarch Rinat Akhmetov’s Metinvest Holding, is leaving Belarus.
According to the director of the holding Yury Ryzhenkov, the decision to liquidate the companies Metinvest Distribution (in Belarus) and Metinvest Eurasia (in Russia) was taken on February 24. Part of the staff has been dismissed, another part has left the company on its own. There are still operating teams with instructions to liquidate the subsidiaries.
Metinvest Distribution was established at the end of 2013 to supply Belarus with rolled steel from Ukrainian plants, Azovstal, Illich Steel and Iron Works and others. In 2014, it opened a warehouse of rolled steel with a storage capacity of 4000 tons at Kaliadzichy station. The company was estimated to be one of the 3 largest suppliers of steel products to the Belarusian market.
At the same time, according to Office Life, Metinvest Distribution and Metinvest Eurasia are still listed in registers as operating companies.
