On February 1, the Ministry of Defense of Belarus reported that the Belarusian military began full self-sustained operation of Iskander missile system.
At that time, we noticed that the photos and videos published by the Belarusian MoD showed a blurred sleeve insignia (indicates belonging to a military unit) of servicemen operating Iskanders.
At that time we made an assumption that the system got into service of the 465th Missile Brigade (military unit 61732, Asipovichy district), which has several divisions of Tochka-U missile systems. This is the only missile brigade in the Belarusian Armed Forces.
This information was soon confirmed. On the weekend, propagandists published a story about the Iskanders. The story includes a commentary by the «commander of the missile unit» with the rank of lieutenant colonel. However, the sleeve insignia is not blurred. The video clearly shows the number «465» on the insignia. Thus, we absolutely correctly assumed that Iskanders were transferred to the 465th Brigade.
And one more small detail. For some reason the propagandists in their story used the image of another missile system — 9K72 Elbrus (not used in the Belarusian Armed Forces) to illustrate the technical characteristics of Iskander. They should have looked on the Internet to see what Iskander looks like.
