A conscripted soldier was convicted for August 2020 protests

A conscript was sentenced to 3 months of arrest with serving in the guardhouse of the military commandant’s office. He was found guilty under Part 1 of Article 342 of the Criminal Code of Belarus. The verdict was announced by the court of the Zavodskoy district of Minsk.

The young man was convicted for participating in the protests on August 10 and 11 in Minsk on Pobediteley Avenue. He was charged with going out on the roadway. The defendant also did not respond to the demands of the security forces to stop his actions. According to the Prosecutor General’s Office,  photos posted by the young man on the social network were the evidence. The verdict has not entered into legal force, it can be appealed and challenged on appeal.

It’s not mentioned in the report of the Prosecutor General’s Office whether the young man was a conscript in August 2020, or was called for service later.
