According to our information, Péter Sztáray, the former NATO permanent representative for Hungary and currently the Secretary of State for Security Policy at the Hungarian Ministry of Foreign Affairs, attended today’s farewell ceremony for Vladimir Makei.

He arrived in Minsk this morning by Airbus A319-112 of the Hungarian Air Force at 09:42 (Minsk time) and left after the ceremony.

It’s notable that neither the website of the Hungarian MFA, nor the Hungarian media say anything about the visit of the high-ranking official from the EU member state to Belarus.

It’s possible that they didn’t want to disclose this information, as even photos published today by state media don’t show the Hungarian official. We could only find one photo with a man in a red jacket and a hat, who looks like Péter Sztáray, but we can’t say for sure it was him. You may compare by yourself.

It is remarkable that after the ceremony, the representative of the Hungarian MFA and former NATO representative flew to the NATO summit in Bucharest, which started today. The Hungarian Airbus A319-112 with registration number 604 took off from MSQ at 16:07 and arrived in Bucharest at 17:11 (EET).
