As Belsat found out, the head of the Union of Poles was summoned to Minsk together with her mother. There, Andzelika Borys was given a document on the termination of the case «due to the lack of corpus delicti.» She was also promised to return all the items siezed during the investigation.
«Given that Andrzej Poczobut was sentenced to eight years in the same case, this puts the Union of Poles in Belarus and its emigrant activists in a difficult position and allows this card to be played,» Agnieszka Romaszevska–Guzy, the director of the Belsat TV channel, said.
Andzelika Borys and Andrzej Poczobut were arrested in spring 2021. Andzelika Borys was released from custody in March last year. The special services simply took her from Minsk to Hrabiani village in Hrodna region, where she was ordered to stay under unofficial house arrest in her mother’s house.
Together with Poczobut and Borys, Iryna Biarnatskaya and Mariya Tsishkouskaya from the Union of Poles, as well as Hanna Panishava, an activist of the Polish minority from Brest, were arrested in March 2021.
