Due to the closure of the border crossing in Bruzgi, hazardous waste — unsuitable pesticides — is not exported from Belarus to Germany, the press service of the Ministry of Natural Resources reports.

Unsuitable pesticides are exported for destruction in Germany as part of a project to clean up POPs (persistent organic pollutants). «It was the Bruzgi checkpoint that was included in the permit for the transboundary movement of hazardous waste,» the press service said.

The Bruzgi border crossing point was closed from the Polish side in November 2021 after several thousand migrants set an improvised camp in the immediate vicinity of it, and several times attempted to storm the border in order to get into the European Union.
