Marius Skuodis, the Minister of Transport and Communications of Lithuania, proposed to impose national sanctions on the transit of Belaruskali. He is going to submit such a project to the government. He wrote about this on his Facebook.

Since yesterday the government commission on national security has not yet begun to verify the transaction, I am submitting to the government a draft on the imposition of sanctions at the national level, which will be presented to all members of the government for consideration today. I hope that together with the Ministry of Foreign Affairs, which is responsible for the sanctions policy, we will soon make an optimum solution and stop the transportation of fertilizers through Lithuania”, – Skuodis wrote.

It became known yesterday that Gabrielus Landsbergis, the Minister of Foreign Affairs of Lithuania, intended to resign due to the situation with the transit of Belaruskali. He informed Ingrid Simonyte, the Prime Minister of the country about this, but has not received an answer yet. Simonyte also confirmed that she received a resignation proposal from Marius Skuodis, the Minister of Transport and Communications. According to the head of the Lithuanian government, a decision on these issues will be made next week.
