Belarusian Defense Minister Viktor Khrenin announced the decision to continue «inspection of the Union State’s rapid reaction forces.» He cited an increase in military activity near the external borders of the Union State and aggravation of the situation in Donbas as the reason. Aliaksandr Lukashenka and Vladimir Putin made the decision. This was said during his speech at the summing up of the preliminary results of the completed exercise «Union Resolve.»
«Due to the increase in military activity near the external borders of the Union State and the aggravation of the situation in Donbass, the Presidents of the Republic of Belarus and the Russian Federation have decided to continue the inspection of the Union State’s rapid reaction forces,» Khrenin said.
According to him, during the inspection «stages of the Union State defense, which were not covered with such a degree of detail by the training questions of the previous inspection period, will be thoroughly elaborated.»
«It is designed to ensure an adequate response and de-escalation of military preparations of enemies near our common borders,» the press service of the Ministry of Defense reports.
He claims there are numerous groupings of troops and forces deployed on the territory of neighboring countries, «supply of weapons,» modernization of military and transport infrastructure, and drills near borders.
«The West refuses to perceive the «red lines» outlined by Russia in the security architecture of Europe, which are also relevant for Belarusians. We see the rejection of the fundamental principle of the indivisibility of security. In the conditions of clearly outlined «red lines,» they are intensively looking for ways to circumvent them. Ideas of new formats of military development of the territory of Ukraine are being put forward. One conclusion logically follows from all of the above – there is a very strong smell of gunpowder in Europe,» the minister said.
«It is being purposefully pushed into war,» he added.
He called the demonstration of the strength of Belarusian-Russian relations and resolve in defending national interests, including the use of military force, the main political result of the «Union Resolve – 2022» exercise.
