Lithuanian customs officers intercepted a large consignment of Belarusian cigarettes in trucks near the village of Mankunai in the Alitus district.
Border guards noticed two men overloading boxes containing 320,000 packs of Belarusian NZ Gold cigarettes produced by the Belarusian factory Neman. Their cost with taxes is estimated at € 1,126,000.
Lithuanian border guards knew that an attempt could be made to transport illegal cargo near the village of Mankunai in the Alitus district. They ambushed and found a 24-year-old resident of Druskininkai who was loading cigarettes from a Mercedes Benz truck into a Renault Midlum truck. As a result, border guards detained a 43-year-old resident of Druskininkai municipality at the entrance to the village of Mankunai.
