Sviatlana Tsikhanouskaya and representatives of the Office met with representatives of Google, Meta, and Microsoft. During the working meetings, important for Belarusians issues on presence in social networks were discussed, Tsikhanouskaya’s press service reports.

The results of the meetings:

  • Many Microsoft services may become free for NGOs.

The Office negotiated with representatives of Microsoft about the services required by Belarusian NGOs for work. It is reported that the company is already providing them with discounts on its products, and in future there may be a free use.

  • They discussed training by Facebook and Instagram specialists for Belarusian bloggers.

Facebook and Instagram often introduce something new into the apps. It is a common practice to hold training for different countries on this topic, but Belarus has always been bypassed. Now there will be an opportunity to hold similar training for Belarusian bloggers.

  • They discussed the issue of advertising in Belarusian-language videos on Youtube (currently this is not possible).

They were also discussing the need to create a separate segment for Belarus within the framework of Google products (now issues on Belarus are being resolved by employees working in Russian or European offices).

  • Separately, they discussed the fight against propaganda videos on YouTube and Instagram.

It is reported that many of the most absurd videos, as well as the accounts from which they were posted, have been blocked, and this work will continue.

Franak Viacorka, the head of the Foreign Policy Department of Sviatlana Tsikhanouskaya’s Office, tells more about the results of the meetings:
