The United States considers the Belarusian-Russian exercises «Union Resolve – 2022» an escalation of the situation on the border with Ukraine. This was stated at a briefing by White House Press Secretary Jen Psaki.
Psaki said Russia is taking escalation, but not de-escalation steps.
When asked whether the U.S. sees the drills as a cover for invading Ukraine, Psaki said that Washington perceives preparations for the drills, which will take place near the Ukrainian border, as more of an escalation.
