The U.S. Embassy in Belarus has published a warning addressed to U.S. citizens in Belarus. It advises them to avoid public demonstrations and to regularly reevaluate possible departure plans in the event of an emergency.
The diplomatic mission’s warning mentions political and military tensions in the region. It mentions “unusual military activity of Russia near the borders of Ukraine, including the border with Belarus.”
The “do not travel” recommendation regarding Belarus is already in force in the United States, introduced due to the coronavirus pandemic, arbitrary application of laws and the risk of detention.
