Over the past 3 weeks, the number of COVID-19 patients in Belarusian hospitals has increased almost 2.5 times. And this is according only to the official statistics of the Ministry of Health.
After analyzing the data from September 15 to October 5, we found out that the number of patients in hospital increased from 7,495 to 18,470 people (as the population of Pruzhany). The growth is 146.43%.
At the same time, the number of new COVID-19 cases per day has been steadily varying around 1950/day. The same goes for the number of recoveries.
These data indicates an increase in the number of serious patients and the strain on the health care system. You should understand that this is not the peak of the next wave of COVID-19. We remind that the Ministry of Health predicted a new wave of the epidemic for October, but the increase in the incidence began on August 1. We recall that in 2020, when the increase in the incidence began in September, the peak was reached only on December 8, at around 21,852.
And, unlike previous «waves», this one didn’t have a bottom, since growth began after August 1, when there were not 100-200 people in hospitals, but 2,165.
The health care system of Belarus experienced the greatest load during the first wave: on June 9, 2020, the number of patients in hospital was 25,477 people.
Today the TV channel Grodno.Plus reported that the last two weeks the medical staff of the Infectious Diseases Hospital in Grodno has all hands on deck. Half of the hospital’s patients are in serious condition.
Nasha Niva writes that in Brest there was a significant increase in the incidence of COVID-19. According to the situation on October 5, 1300 patients with pneumonia were hospitalized in two city hospitals, of which 49 people are in intensive care unit in serious condition.
In Polotsk Hospital №1, the oxygen supply system works with an increased load due to the many patients with severe form. There is a rapid increase in the number of infected with coronavirus everywhere, the district newspaper Polatski vesnіk writes.

At that time, readers reported that there was a large number of serious patients in covid departments in the Central District Hospitals of Glubokoye, Molodechno, Orsha and Zhlobin, and Regional Hospitals in Minsk and Brest are being repurposed for COVID-19.
As at October 15, 874 employees of energy enterprises in Belarus had being treated for COVID-19, the White Coats Telegram channel reports. The worst situation is at the enterprise Minskenergo, where 238 people are sick. As for the Belarusian NPP, 45 of its employees have been diagnosed with COVID-19.
