В Лунинце сформировали новый полк противовоздушной обороны
In the morning of March 23, the Ministry of Defense of Belarus reported that a new anti-aircraft missile regiment had been formed in the Belarusian Armed Forces. The regiment’s permanent deployment point is Luninets airfield, Brest region.
According to the government procurement portal, the regiment was given the number 10198. According to our data, the 56th Anti-Aircraft Missile Regiment could have been revived in Luninets. We note that previously the 56th Anti-Aircraft Missile Brigade (military unit 01851, equipped with Buk SAM system) was deployed in Slutsk. At the end of 2014, the brigade was disbanded.

Judging by photos published by the Ministry of Defense of Belarus, we can conclude that the regiment was equipped with S-300PS SAM systems. Most likely, the equipment (at least one division) was received from another air defense unit of the Belarusian Armed Forces. It’s possible that the regiment was supplied with S-400 SAM systems. Earlier (December 2022), it was reported that the Belarusian Armed Forces received a regiment set of S-400 SAM systems from Russia.
Information about the naming and armament of the regiment, as well as its staffing with servicemen from other units of the Air Defense Forces of the Belarusian Armed Forces was confirmed by the 15th Anti-Aircraft Missile Brigade. Some servicemen of the brigade were transferred to the 56th Anti-Aircraft Missile Regiment for service.
Plans to deploy a new military unit at the airfield in Luninets were announced in late January 2022, during Lukashenka’s visit to the airfield. It also became known about the start of construction work in early 2022. The construction at the airfield took place during the entire 2022 (1, 2, 3). A residential building with 72 apartments was built for the regiment’s servicemen.
Thanks to the data on government procurement of food, information about the deployment of the unit of the Air Defense Forces of the Belarusian Armed Forces at the airfield was confirmed in February 2023.
At the moment, there are six anti-aircraft missile regiments in the Belarusian Armed Forces:
- The 1st Anti-Aircraft Missile Regiment, military unit 97097. Location: vicinity of Labna-Aharodniki village, Hrodna district. Main armament: S-300 SAM system;
- The 115th Anti-Aircraft Missile Regiment, military unit 92504. Location: Hershony micro-district, Brest. Main armament: S-300 SAM system;
- The 147th Anti-Aircraft Missile Regiment, military unit 96869. Location: Babruisk, Urytskaha street. Main armament: Osa-AKM SAM system;

- The 377th Anti-Aircraft Missile Regiment, military unit 55719. Location: vicinity of Kapavishcha village, Polatsk district. Main armament: S-300 SAM system;
- The 740th Anti-Aircraft Missile Regiment, military unit 15847. Location: Barysau. Main armament: Osa-AKM SAM system;
- The 1146th Anti-Aircraft Missile Regiment, military unit 97106. Location: agro-town Varniany, Astravets district. Main armament: Tor-M2K SAM system.
The regiment formed in Luninets became the seventh in the Belarusian Armed Forces.
