Olga, journalist Dzianis Ivashyn‘s wife, provided Mediazona publication with a response to a request from the KGB.
From the response of the Grodno region Department of the KGB, it turns out that journalist Denis Ivashin, who is in custody on charges of interfering in the activities of a policeman (Article 365 of the Criminal Code), is also charged with treason (part 1 of Article 356 of the Criminal Code). The penalty under this part of the article provides for a maximum penalty of imprisonment for up to fifteen years. Andrei Aliaksandrau, media manager and journalist, is accused under the same article.

In September, Ivashyn’s wife said that the journalist was charged with a new «particularly serious crime», but the specific article of the Criminal Code at that time was unknown. The Belarusian Association of Journalists also reports that Ivashin almost never receives any letters, his relatives received a letter from him more than a month ago.
Dzianis Ivashyn has been behind bars since March 12, 2021. Initially, he was accused of «interfering in the activities of an internal affairs officer.» Dzianis Ivashyn previously collaborated with the Novy Chas newspaper, and is a member of the Ukrainian initiative Informnapalm, also known for his investigations.
