Авіяўлады Літвы заявілі, што пілоты Air Montenegro нічога не парушылі накіроўваючыся ў Вільню над РБ, але папросяць іх так не лятаць
Yesterday we reported that the aircraft of Air Montenegro on the flight MNE2468 Tivat-Vilnius, despite Lithuania’s ban, flew over the territory of Belarus and entered the airspace of Lithuania from the side of Belarus.
Lithuanian aviation authorities commented on this, stating that the airline didn’t violate sanctions, but they would contact Air Montenegro and ask them not to fly over Belarus.
As the Lithuanian Transport Safety Administration (LTSA) informed the BNS news agency, “The flight was not a violation, as the EASA security guideline only recommends non-EU airlines to avoid the airspace of Belarus before entering the airspace of Lithuania.”
For the EU airlines, it’s not a recommendation, but a requirement, but Montenegro is not an EU member.
The situation was also commented in the Lithuanian air traffic management company Oro Navigacija, which stated that no sanctions were applied to this flight, and the aircraft flew on the route specified in the flight plan.
“Montenegro is an EASA partner, and there are no provisions in the EASA safety order about non-EASA airlines. Therefore, airlines which are not EASA members are not prohibited by this instruction to perform flights in the airspace of Belarus, and the decision on the flight route is up to the airline,” Oro Navigacija told BNS.
