Journalist of Tribuna.com and host of the YouTube channel «Chestnok» Aliaksandr Ivulin published the first post on Instagram, where he writes:

«All those 624 days we didn’t see each other, it was much harder for you than it was for me. You were afraid of the unknown. You didn’t know how I was. You didn’t know how to help me. But you did everything you could to make life a little easier for me on the other side of the fence. You did so much that I can’t yet realize the full scale of it.

Sorry, I’m writing this and my hands are shaking and condensation is coming to my eyes. It’s all because of you, incredible Belarusians!

Many thanks to everyone for their solidarity and support. This is very appreciated. It is not forgotten.»

Andrei Stryzhak, the head of BYSOL, writes that Aliaksandr Ivulin was evacuated thanks to the coordinated work of many people, including the BYSOL evacuation service.

Aliaksandr Ivulin together with Yaraslau Pisarenka, the cameraman and editor of the YouTube channel «Chestnok», were arrested on June 3, 2021. The next day, the journalist was sentenced to 30 days of administrative arrest under Article 24.23 of the Code of Administrative Offences — allegedly for the flag on the window of his apartment. After 30 days of arrest, he was not released.

Later it became known that Aliaksandr Ivulin was transferred to pre-trial detention center No.1 on suspicion of committing a criminal offense under part 1 of article 342 of the Criminal Code («Group actions that grossly violate public order»).

On January 19, 2022 the journalist was sentenced to 2 years in prison. In mid-April 2022, Aliaksandr was transported to the penal colony No. 22 «Volchyi Nory» in Ivatsevichy. On February 17, 2023, he was released, having served his full sentence.
