According to KYKY.org, unlike in a penal colony (even a high-security one), in prison a prisoner is constantly within four walls with the same people (only 1 or 1.5-hour walks are allowed), and this may last for years. The number of visits, parcels, and money that can be spent on personal expenses is also limited.
In order to return from prison to colony, you have to prove that you are «on the path of correction.»
