The State Department has updated the advisory for U.S. citizens to travel to Belarus. Now it says it is necessary to leave the country.
«Do not Travel to Belarus due to the arbitrary enforcement of laws, the risk of detention, unusual and concerning Russian military buildup along Belarus’ border with Ukraine, COVID-19 and related entry restrictions. U.S. citizens in Belarus should depart immediately via commercial or private means,» the advisory says.
Previous warning updates had already mentioned military activity on the border with Ukraine, but then U.S. citizens were advised to have departure plans in case of an emergency. Later, the U.S. Foreign Ministry began to remove diplomats’ family members from Belarus.
Yesterday it became known that the U.S. is moving its embassy in Ukraine from Kyiv to Lviv.
