Sviatlana Tsikhanouskaya received an invitation from US President Joe Biden to take part in the Summit for Democracy, which will be held online on December 10. This was reported by the press office of Tsikhanouskaya. The summit will be attended by the heads of 110 states, most of which use a democratic form of government. A number of countries are not invited to the summit, including Russia, China, Turkey, Kazakhstan, North Korea and Venezuela.

The first Summit for Democracy will be held online. The 2022 Summit is expected to bring together world leaders in the United States and will be held regularly. In addition to discussing the state of democracy, heads of states are invited to take practical steps.

On December 10, Sviatlana Tsikhanouskaya will speak at the section «Strengthening Democracy and Countering Authoritarianism». Using the example of the crisis in Belarus, Tsikhanouskaya will talk about the importance of elections and other democratic institutions, how societies can resist authoritarianism and what needs to be done to counter disinformation.
