Hajun Project, which monitors military activity on the territory of Belarus, published a post, in which the authors tell which of the Belarusian military units have been sent to the border of Belarus with Ukraine, and how it relates to Lukashenka’s fears. We quote the opinion unchanged.
This afternoon, a train with equipment of the 103rd Separate Guards Mobile Brigade of Special Operations Forces stationed in Vitebsk, was spotted there.
The case is that with the outbreak of the war in Ukraine, Lukashenka was afraid (not without reason) of a response from the Armed Forces of Ukraine for his illegal actions, and sent his most combat-ready units of the Belarusian Armed Forces, including the 103rd Separate Guards Mobile Brigade of Special Operations Forces of the Armed Forces of Belarus, to reinforce the Belarusian-Ukrainian border.
Their task was to guard the border, which is exactly what they were doing. However, the personnel physically needs to rotate, otherwise their combat efficiency will fall, and this is exactly what we are observing now. Three weeks later, they are replaced with five battalion groups of the 6th Separate Guards Mechanized Brigade of the Armed Forces of Belarus (Grodno) and the 120th Separate Guards Mechanized Brigade (Minsk). There is also unconfirmed information that servicemen of the 11th Separate Mechanized Brigade (Slonim) may also be sent to the border.
It is planned that they will also stay there for about a month, and then will be replaced by someone else. It is notable that sending troops to the border is not the first time in the history of modern Belarus. For example, during the hot phase of the war in Donbass in the summer of 2014, it was exactly the same. Back then, even the air defense troops of the Belarusian Armed Forces helped to patrol the border with machine guns – they were very afraid of the illegal transit of weapons before the 2015 elections in Belarus.
Units of the 19th Guards Separate Mechanized Brigade of the Armed Forces of Belarus may have also been on the border since March 17.
In addition, we received information that at night of March 16-17, units of the 19th Guards Nikolayevo-Budapest Separate Mechanized Brigade, based in the village of Zaslonava (Vitebsk region), departed for the border with Ukraine.
It is reported that the unit left for the border together with ammunition. It is notable that the day before the departure, Igor Sergeyenko, the head of Lukashenka’s administration, came to the brigade to meet with the personnel. By the way, he is on the sanctions lists of the EU, Canada, and a number of other countries.
