In early July, we wrote that several Vilnius-Itanbul flights of Turkish Airlines began to fly over the territory of Belarus.

It was notable that after the landing of the Ryanair plane with Raman Pratasevich on board, all western airlines, including Turkish Airlines, stopped flying over Belarus. The only exceptions were Turkish Airlines’ flights to Russia or Minsk, which flew over the territory of Belarus.

At that time we were asking the company, since when they have such an interesting route, and apparently our messages were heard.

The last time Turkish Airlines Istanbul-Vilnius flight flew over the territory of Grodno region on July 9, after which the airline’s flights from/to the EU countries didn’t enter the airspace of Belarus and flew around. In total, during the period from July 4 to July 9, Turkish Airlines flights to/from Vilnius flew over Belarus 6 times.

In addition, active training of fighters have been held in Belarus for several weeks, in particular at the military airfield in Baranavichy. According to our information, the pilots of fighters and helicopters have recently been carrying out trainings on escorting and forced landing of intercepted aircraft.

We would like Turkish Airlines, as well as other western airlines, to take this information into account the next time they want to shorten their journey by flying over the territory of Belarus.
