The Belarusian Ministry of Defense announced the beginning of the joint tactical exercises of aviation units of the Belarusian and Russian Armed Forces included in the aviation component of the regional group of troops. The exercises are expected to be held from January 16 to February 1.

It’s reported that the Russian aviation will take part in these exercises, as the Belarusian Hajun already said earlier, when 12 Russian helicopters arrived in Belarus on January 8, and 8 Russian fighters arrived on January 15.

The Belarusian Ministry of Defense says that the main purpose of the exercise is “improvement of interoperability during the joint conduct of training and combat tasks.”

The agency also listed issues the aviation plans to work on during the exercise:

  • Air reconnaissance;
  • Joint patrolling of airspace along the state border;
  • Air support of troops;
  • Tactical airborne landing;
  • Delivery of supplies and evacuation of the wounded.

In addition, the Ministry of Defense reported again that all airfields and training grounds of the Air Force and Air Defense Forces of Belarus would be involved in the exercise.
