Belsat journalist Katsiaryna Andreyeva was transferred from Gomel penal colony No.4 to the detention center, her husband Ihar Ilyash said.
According to him, she has been held in pre-trial detention center No.3 in Gomel since February 10, where she was transferred due to some «procedural actions.»
«She has been in the pre-trial detention center No.3 in Gomel since February 10. At the moment we know practically nothing about what is going on. I was only told that she was transferred from the penal colony to the detention center due to «procedural actions». I don’t know in what case, under what article, or what her status is at the moment. Her lawyer is under a non-disclosure agreement, which the investigation has traditionally interpreted in a completely open-ended way. That is, she can’t say anything at all, not even to her family. It is not clear what is behind this story. But the situation is, of course, extremely alarming,» Ihar wrote in his blog.
Journalists Katsiaryna Andreyeva and Daria Chultsova were detained on November 15, 2020, after a live stream of a protest at «Square of Change» and placed in pre-trial detention center. They were accused of allegedly organizing the protesters’ actions by live streaming (Article 342 of the Criminal Code). Three months later the girls were sentenced to two years in prison each. Last September they were recalculated terms, taking into account the new legislation. The terms will end on September 5, 2022.
