Russian Su-35S started flying to Belarus

The crews of the Russian Multi-Purpose Su-35S fighters of the Eastern Military District have begun to fly to Belarus as part of the inspection of the Union State’s rapid reaction forces, the press service of the Ministry of Defense of the Russian Federation reports.

During the preparation for the flight, the engineering and technical staff of the aviation regiment conducted a detailed check of the operation of the systems and equipment of the aircraft. During the execution of flight tasks, the crews will work out flights to the maximum range, landing on Belarusian airfields and joint preparation with Belarusian specialists for repeated flights.

Inspection of the Union State’s rapid reaction forces will be held in two stages, the first of which will take place until February 9. It will carry out the transfer and creation of groups of troops in the shortest possible time on the territory of Belarus, the organization of protection and defense of important state and military facilities, border protection in the airspace, checking the readiness and ability of air defense alert forces and means to perform tasks to cover important objects on the territory of Belarus.

A joint exercise «Union Resolve — 2022» will be held at the second stage of the inspection, from February 10 to 20. It is planned to work out the issues of suppressing and repelling external aggression and countering terrorism and protecting the interests of the Union State.

During the drills, measures will be taken to strengthen border protection «to prevent the penetration of armed groups of militants, block the channels for the delivery of weapons and ammunition, as well as search, block, destroy illegal armed formations and sabotage and reconnaissance groups of the conditional enemy.»

«The number of military personnel and equipment involved in the drills, which comes under the Vienna document of 2011, does not exceed the parameters defined by it, which are subject to notification,» the Russian Ministry of Defense said in a press release.

According to the Ministry of Defense, the maneuvers will be held at the training grounds «Obuz-Lesnovsky», «Osipovichi», «Brestsky», «Gozhsky» and «Domanovsky», as well as in certain areas of the terrain. It is planned to use the airfields of Baranavichy, Luninets, Lida, Machulishchy. There was information recently that Russian equipment was seen in the area of Rechitsa.
