It’s reported that the meeting of Sviatlana Tsikhanouskaya and the former president of the U.S. Barack Obama took place in Copenhagen.
«We had a very warm chat. Barack said I need to meet with Michelle Obama and expressed his admiration for our work and all Belarusians.
We spoke a lot about Belarus. I talked about Belarusian activists, journalists, and the recent crackdown on trade union leaders and partisans. Needless to say, we discussed the war in Ukraine. We agreed that the current developments in Ukraine will decide the future of Ukraine, and Belarus, as well as all of Europe.
I was pleased that we managed to touch upon the programs for repressed youth and students. I asked Barack to emphasize Belarus within his Barack Obama Foundation Leaders Program, and invite young leaders for international workshops and internships.
Such meetings fuel my confidence that Belarusians have many more friends than we tend to think,» Sviatlana Tsikhanouskaya writes.
