Since October 30, ‘individual’ lawyers and law offices are banned from working in Belarus.
Among them lawyer Maria Kolesova-Gudilina, whose individual advocacy is also terminated, as she wrote on Twitter. It is important to note that this doesn’t mean disbarment.
The reason is that on November 30, amendments to the Law on the Bar will take effect — according to them, articles on individual advocacy and law firms will be excluded from the law.
According to lawyer Sergei Zikratsky, who was disbarred in Belarus, a month before these amendments take effect, individual lawyers and law firms will have to stop their activities.
